His master always knew how to motivate him. He looked around and spotted the remains of the glass goblet that Mordecai had used. He crossed the rooma dn took up one of the shards and sniffed it. . . This one would be trouble if not delt with. He looked up out the window into the north. Then, with a snap of his fingers, all teh books and texts in Ling's library were set ablaze. Ling would no longer need them and none of the slaves or those who resist would ever have access to them. mornuki took three steps towards the window before leaping out.* mordecai coughed as he leaned agaisnt the table. She always took forever. He monitored his breathing and tried not to cough too much. When the light died down, a woman stood before him, looking at her nails with plain white eyes. Her short blonde hair and white robes moved gently in a breeze that could not be felt, but what made her seem almost normal were the sprinkle of freckles across her nose and the apples of her cheeks.* What do you want, Mordecai? Devine, short for the Devine Neutral, was in his eyes, the onely true immortal. A cursed woman who had to live eternity with nothing to show for it but the small this. This woman was the last of an ancient breed, close to the angelics, which unfortunetly brought a unflinching attraction from her onto the only male close to her species. But he didn't have time to tip-toe around it. he reached into his pocket and pulled out a crecent moon ammulet with a saphire embedded in the center and tossed it to her* Consider this a down-payment. She knelt before Mordecai and brought the very foul-smelling liquid to his lips, making him drink every last drop until he began to sweat black sweat.* There. Now you will be just fine in a few minutes. When it started to take effect, he felt the black sweat dripping off of him. He could feel his own energies starting to recover from the poison as he managed to bring himself to his feet. He looked over to Devine and sighed* I'll hold you to that Devine. *The thought of having a drink with her wasn't what bothered him. Here was one of, if not the, most powerful beings in the world, but because of her past deeds, she was unable to do much more than try and keep Mordecai alive. He could tell taht it tortured her jsut as much, having to see this world slowly become engulfed by the Hollows while she carried power that could have saved it* Anything new from the slipstream? Any news of the sovereign? I always look such a mess when you come to see me... Laughing softly, she moved closer to Mordecai and draped her arms around him, pouting at his questions. You only ever want information about others from me. Never any questions about what I like or what has been going on with me. But if you must know, the Sovereigns are sill laying low, the bums. You still have work ahead of you to call them out to the open. But they do feel the pain in the world and are preparing, or so I've heard. But then again, Devine was sort of a kindred spirit to him, and he knew that it really was torturing her that she was bound to watch and not fight.* Forgive me, Devine. I should not take you for granted as such. *He felt her drape her arms over him and raised a hand to run his fingers over her arm. He felt her potion starting to take effect as he could concentrate his energies with mroe ease rather than force. That Ling had tricked him and nearly cost him his life. And that creature... that hideious beast that had come to the palace. It was a servent of NAha, not on underling to a master or ruler.
